         <procstep>
            <procdesc>The historical New Jersey Geological Atlas Sheets was originally scanned at 600 dpi using an Altek VIDAR large format scanner. The scanned map was saved in a single layer tiff format at 16 million colors. Color correction and adaptive color level balancing was done in Adobe Photoshop 6.0. This process was done at the New Jersey Environmental Digital Library (NJEDL) , Rutgers University. The original maps were FTP in TIFF LZW format from the New Jersey Digital Environmental Library (NJDEL) to the Digital Map and Geospatial Information Center, Princeton University Library. Later The TIFF LZW file was opened in the IrfanView software, version 3.80 and resaved as non-compressed TIFF file. The TIFF file was georeferenced first using ArcView 3.2a Image Analysis software. On each map, the four corners and two middle graticules were used to georeference the maps, and later the TIFF file was reprojected to the New Jersey State Plane Coordinate System, NAD 83 using ERDAS IMAGINE software 8.6.</procdesc>
